South African Cricketer to Throw the First Pitch

The Euros are pleased to announce that Nic Pothas, the Hampshire cricketer who has played for South Africa in the past, will be making the opening pitch at this years European Slowpitch Softball Championships. Nic Pothas, a wicket keeper will be making the pitch on behalf of the Tom Prince Cancer charity, a charity that we have partnered with to help give them exposure and raise money for the excellent work they are doing.

The opening ceremony will be taking place on Wednesday 9th July at 6.00pm, and will be followed by Great Britain versus Ireland. Both Mike Jennings, ESF President and Jo Chambers from Voyager Solutions will be saying a few words before the teams and officials are introduced to the crowd. When this has been completed, the games will be officially opened. After the Ireland and Great Britain teams have completed their final warm-ups, Great Britain (as home team) takes to the field, the pitcher will invite Nic Pothas to the mound to throw the first pitch. The game will then officially have started.

We are thankful to Nic for donating his time to this and we hope that everyone who attends the European Championships will be able to donate to the Tom Prince Cancer Charity by either way of a donation or by entering the raffle.
