National Softball League Rules

The following are a set of rules that all teams who join the NSL are expected to comply to. You can also download these rules as a PDF document here.

1. Structure

1.1 The National Softball League (NSL) will consist of the tournaments who have agreed to host rounds of the National Softball League.
1.2 All teams competing in the NSL will be expected to enter all tournaments participating in the NSL and will be guaranteed a spot in that tournament up until one month before the tournament date.
1.3 The NSL will consist of the qualification process for the Premier Nationals.

2. League Structure

2.1 Teams will score points ranging from sixteen points for the winners down to one point for the sixteenth placed team.
2.2 Any team which fails to compete in a tournament will score zero points.
2.3 The Premier Nationals will not contribute any points towards the NSL.

3. Premier Nationals Qualification

3.1 The finishing position in the league will contribute towards the type of Premier Nationals you will be eligible to compete in and your seeding for the Premier Nationals.
3.2 The structure for the Premier Nationals each season will be decided upon before the first NSL tournament of the season.
3.3 The Premier Nationals will be organised by the Nationals Organisers on the British Softball Federation.
3.4 Any team failing to compete in the Premier Nationals will be excluded from the National Softball League in the season following their non-attendance.

4. Player Eligibility

4.1 All players are expected to be registered on www.baseballsoftballuk.com.
4.2 No player may participate in more than one NSL team in any one season in the NSL tournaments. The Premier Nationals does not qualify as an NSL tournament.
4.3 Player qualification for the Premier Nationals is through any BSF sanctioned tournament played by the same team name entered for the NSL.
4.4 There is no limit to the amount of players any NSL team may use within the season, as long as they comply with 4.2. This rule is designed to promote teams to use more players rather than the same players being ‘borrowed’ constantly.

5. Team Eligibility

5.1 All teams are expected to be registered on www.baseballsoftballuk.com.
5.2 Teams must complete the NSL entry form to participate in the NSL.
5.3 All teams must be affiliated to the British Softball Federation and comply with the rules and regulations of the British Softball Federation Constitution.
5.4 All teams are expected to send a representative to the AGM as per the BSF Constitution.
5.5 All teams must pay BSF affiliation Fee’s and the NSL and as well as the Premier Nationals entry fee.

6. NSL Fee

6.1 Teams must pay the NSL fee. This fee for the 2009 season will be £20 per team.

7. NSL Disputes

7.1 Any disputes arising from NSL matters will be dealt with by the NSL organisers.
7.2 Any requests for dispensations for the Premier Nationals will be decided upon by the dispensations committee.
